Gun control will stop Drug Wars in Mexico?

In an article that I recently read, "Sen. Kerry makes push for righter gun control." It is stated that because assault rifles being used by gangs in Mexico can be traced back to the US, we should ban assault rifles in the US.

First, the US is one of the only countries that tracks guns. What percentage of the guns are actually from other countries. They don't know that, they only know when they come from the US. And how many of those guns are actually stolen? They don't know that either. They just know that guns are going to Mexico that are from cities in the US. They say that in a recent raid 60 of the guns came from the US. 60 of how many? And I think that gang members stealing from a gun dealer would tally 60 pretty quickly.

Second, it is not the fact we have assault rifles in the US that is the problem. It is the border that is the issue. If you were to tighten security on the border and not let the gang members go back and forth, then the guns would not be able to find there way into Mexico. Why not stop the problem by not letting them flow into Mexico instead of an all out BAN?

Third, they talk about the amount of violence that is spilling into the US from Mexico. This would not be an issue if we had tighter borders. Lets deploy the national guard to the border (southern and northern), and take off the gloves. Let them actually do what they need to do to secure the boarders. Both problems solved. Guns won't flow into Mexico, and we won't have to worry about the gang element making it north of the border.
Forth, does he really think that a ban on assault rifles will stop it? It won't. The only thing a ban on assault rifles would do is eliminate the ability for law bidding citizens to own them. Criminals don't worry about laws, and will continue to find was to get assault rifles. We would still be dealing with armed gangs, but take away the citizens ability to defend themselves when the armed gang attacks.
Just my opinion, and as always, it is open for debate, and I encourage people to comment their views as well.

MY RANT

I am so tired of the federal government thinking that everyone in this country is STUPID, and that they need to fix all our problems.

How does fixing peoples problems help them grow and become better people? People made STUPID mistakes, and they should have consequences for those mistakes. But the Federal Government wants to take away the consequences and make everyone FEEL GOOD.

What happened to accountability?

If the CEOs are the crooks the media says they are, then they should go to jail, don't take my money and my un-born grandchildren money to fix it. In the process of trying to fix it, they are throwing the country into a state of hyper-inflation (not yet, but give it a year). You can't just print trillions of dollars that are only backed by the good faith of the US citizens and expect it to work when the good faith of the US citizens is wavering.

We are making an elite class, and politicians are on the top of the rung right now. I am so tired of reading in the press about politicians that can break laws with no consequence. Try not paying your taxes and see what happens to you. Hey politicians, why not cap your pay, or tax the money you get as bonuses (lobby dollars) at 90%? Better yet, why not limit your term? Both parties are at fault, including the asses and the bloated elephants.

Everyone expects everyone to give up what they have to make everyone else feel good. The constitution of the US is suppose to guarantee the right to the pursuit of happiness. It does not guarantee happiness. Whatever happened to the idea of American Ingenuity and hard work. We are now a society of people who want to sit around and have everyone else solve the problems. We have raised a generation that is a Welfare generation. They want everything, and they want it now, and don't want to work for it. A quote that I like was said by Benjamin Franklin "We should make the poor uncomfortable and kick them out of poverty." If there is not a reason for them to get out of poverty, then they will always stay there.

Why do you think we are in this problem now? People wanted more house then they could afford. People wanted to pay less for things, so they took out ARM loans, Interest Only loans, and loans were given (by Government sponsored lenders) to people with No Income, No Job, and No Assets (NIJA LOAN). People wanted more items then they could afford, so they maxed out their credit cards. If I hear one more Radio ad saying, "It's not your fault" I am going to scream. Yes it is your fault. You gambled on a housing market bubble. You signed up for that credit card. You used it to buy things you could not afford. You purchased expensive un-needed cars. It was your fault, now don't expect the federal government to bail you out.

And now they federal government wants MORE POWER. They want the ability to control not only the banking industry, which I predict will be nationalized under the federal government within the year, they want to be able to go into any financial business and cap the salaries, and take over if they think they need to. It won't stop there. They will then want to take over any industry that is to valuable to fail (auto industry, tech industry, energy industry, etc).

WHY ARE WE GIVING THEM SO MUCH POWER. I will tell you why, because we are lazy. We don't think we have what it takes to become a CEO. We think we can't come up with any good ideas so we have to take what is given us. What a crock of crap. And that is exactly how the federal government and Uncle Bama want you to think. They want you to think that if you make money, you are evil. They want you to think you can't take care of yourself, and you require government programs to eat, sleep, and survive.

And people think I am crazy to cling to my guns and religion. I cling to my guns so I can keep what is mine (including the food that I am hording). And I cling to my religion because it gives me the faith that this will soon be over, and that I have the potential to do anything I set my mind to, including making millions of dollars and becoming a CTO of a company.

Just remember, there was a war in Heaven. And there were two plans. One plan was to let you learn from your mistakes and grow as individuals. The other plan was to make everyone return to heaven. Who sponsored each plan? And which plan do you think the federal government is trying to follow now?

Letter from the CEO

LETTER FROM THE BOSS.....

As the CEO of this organization, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barrack Obama is our President and that our taxes and government fees will increase in a BIG way. To compensate for these increases, our prices would have to increase by about 10%.

But since we cannot increase our prices right now due to the dismal state ofthe economy, we will have to lay off six of our employees instead. This has really been bothering me, since I believe we are family here and I didn't know how to choose who would have to go.

So, this is what I did. I walked through our parking lot and found six'Obama' bumper stickers on our employees' cars and have decided these folks will be the ones to let go. I can't think of a more fair way to approach this problem. They voted for change, I gave it to them.

I will see the rest of you at the annual company picnic.

Recession hits UTAH

SALT LAKE CITY, UT - 3/24/2007

The recession has hit hard in some areas of Utah. One of the biggest indicators is new car sales with accessories and upgrades purchased with the new vehicle. It has been noted that several accessories that most people would view as mandatory are no longer being purchased. Not only are people opting for cloth instead of leather seats but they are also cutting on essential safety equipment as well.

This can be noticed during the morning or evening commutes. The next time you see a BMW, Range Rover, or big SUV pushing its way through traffic. Just remember, that the reason they are not using their turn signal is not because of selfish driving habits. It is a result of the recession. Drivers are no longer paying for the turn signal upgrade, or the seat belt upgrades when buying new cars. On average a user can save $300.00 per vehicle if they opt not ot have these optional accessories installed.

The problem is that there old conservative laws on the books, in most states, making signal and seat belt use mandatory. The drivers are going to find that it was not a cost savings but will actually cost them more in ticket expenses.

I am glad that I purchased an Chevy Classic. Turn signals and seat belts were not an upgrade, but were included in the price of the vehicle. And since these upgrades are available to me, I am going to be sure to use them. It may not be the fastest, coolest, or slickest looking car, but it has turn signals and set belts that work.

CloFu?? PETA shows its stupidity AGAIN.

OK, this one makes me sick. And shows how whacked Peta is. From their BLOG, they brag about having a George Clooney sweat soaked towel. Then they discuss how they can use gas chromatography and mass spectrometry to take his sweat and put it in Tofu and call it CloFu.

"so CloFu could make your taste buds and your heart melt. Of course, what's even better is that after everyone gets a piece of George and realizes how delicious tofu truly is, diets will be revolutionized." [Source: blog.peta.com]

WHAT???? Tofu tastes bad enough, but it is suppose to enhance its flavor by putting Human Sweat in it? Do they really think this will be a positive for their cause? How out of touch from
the real world are they.

As for me, I will continue to Personally Eat Tasty Animals, and say NO to the Sweat laced Tofu.

RE: RE: RE: What we doing for lunch

Ok, by profession, I am a computer geek. I have been an Exchange admin for years now. Having said this, I monitor several message boards that have to deal with Exchange. And this has to be the funniest request I have ever seen.

Does anyone know if this can be done either through Exchange or with a 3 party tool?

This example would apply to internal users only in an Exchange 2003 environment. All email to outside addresses, or to outside addresses where internal users are copied would not be impacted by this new "rule."

User A sends and email to user B. User B replies to user A. User A replies back to user B. When user B tries to reply back to user A for a 2nd time on the same email string, a message from the server is displayed informing the user to contact their co-worker directly to discuss further. The email string would be ended by the server and no further forwards/replies on that emails would be able to be sent.

So basically, they want to stop you from replying to an email more than once. I get a big kick out of this. There has been a funny response, and if you want to read it, you can by going to this web resource:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvradmin/thread/418b3d80-f173-4ccb-a267-5e15eaa8b769/

My bet is that this policy would bring the federal government to its knees..... Hey, what about the presidential BlackBerry, would it be exempt from this rule as well?

Unfair Taxes

Ok, here we go. (First off, I don't agree with the bonuses that AIG employees may be getting on the Tax Payers backs, but this response is WRONG).

There is currently a bill in the House of Representatives that will tax bonus at 90% for anyone employed by a firm that receives federal bailout funds.

WOW, let me say that again. A group of people, because of where they work will have to pay a 90% tax on any bonuses they receive.

What a slippery slope we have started down. We are now going to start taxing special interest groups or special groups of people. Once we start doing this, when will it end. Being the RWNJ I am here are some taxes that I thought they may come up with.

Higher tax on the Majority Race (hey, you are white, so you should pay more)

Higher tax based on Religion (hey, you are LDS, so you don't pay the other sin taxes)

Higher taxes based on Education (hey, you know more, so you can make more, so we should tax you more)

I know these are extremes, but my experience as been, if you let the government do anything, just a little bit, they will eventually run with it.

Happy Anniversary... #11

I have recently been listening to Country music... I know, some of my friends just gasped at that statement. But today on the drive into work, I heard a song by Keith Urban titled "You're My Better Half". There is a line in it that describes how I feel about Aimee aka Momzoo. The song says "They say behind every man is a good woman. But I think that's a lie 'Cause when it comes to you I'd rather have you by my side.... When I've given everything I got and I just feel like giving in.... You take my hand. Yeah you pull me close and you hold me tight... 'Cause when it all comes down, and I'm feeling like I'll never last. I just lean on you 'cause baby You're my better half."

There are times when I am ready to give up. And Aimee is always there to see me through it. I just wanted to tell her Happy Anniversary (March 21st), and let her know that finding and marrying her was the best thing I could of done. She is always there, for me and the kids. Sometimes I wonder how she does it, and who she goes to when she needs someone. Because she is by far a better person than I am.

911 call over McNuggets

Latreasa Goodman (Fort Pierce, FL), called 9-1-1 three times because McDonalds ran out of Chicken McNuggets. I think the restaurant handled this incorrectly, but to call 9-1-1 three times because "my McNuggets are an emergency"

This cracks me up. It is also a perfect example of entitlement that has been started in the United States. Everyone is entitled to their McNuggets... :) I have to laugh. I would be upset if I ordered something and did not get it, but would never think about calling 9-1-1 over it.

Three cheers for UTAH....

Three cheers for the Utah State House and Utah State Senate... Instead of just asking everyone to tighten their belts, they are leading the way. They passed a 10% pay cut for themselves to help reduce the strain on the Utah State budget.

Lets just hope that the federal government follows suit and starts to cut spending instead on constantly increasing it.

Corporate help, not government help.

Here is a prefect example of how a company jumps in and helps when help is needed. The government should not be doing these types of things, private companies should be the ones the step up and help out... (And I don't think they will be getting any of the bailout money.)

INDIANAPOLIS -- Hoosiers took advantage of a free resume printing service offered one day only at FedEx Office stores nationwide.

Customers were allowed to print up to 25 copies of their resumes without charge on Tuesday. Company officials said they ran the promotion to both call attention to their services and help those without jobs during a recession, 6News' Julie Pursley reported.

Hugo Chavez and Obama

Hugo Chavez the Venezuelan President in his address to his nation on Venezuelan STATE television said the following:

“It’s regrettable the crisis that the U.S. is living through. Millions of workers are being left in the street, thousands of companies are closing, in the U.S. there isn’t a single new infrastructure project. Go look for a highway there, the country has gone bust.”

“Now President Obama arrived with some announcements, hopefully, but the capitalist model and its perverse values have failed.”

“I recommend to Obama -- they’re criticizing him because they say he’s moving towards socialism -- come Obama, ally with us on the path to socialism, it’s the only road.”

“Imagine a socialist revolution in the U.S. Nothing is impossible.”

Why are Americans so blind? If other countries can see that we are moving to wards socialism by the policies of the left and the current Obama administration, why can't we.

Socialism would end the current freedoms we have in the US. And people are just sitting by and letting the federal government grow, and grow and grow. Soon the feds will own everything in the US. Not only do they now control interest in the majority of the BIG BANKS, but they are now owing the deeds to Private Property. When does it end. I tell you when it ends, when they have control of our Children, the state is the religion, and they have disarmed all citizens.

Cap and Trade - BAD IDEA!

First, let me say that I am all for protecting the environment. I think it is something that needs to be in the fore front of our minds and needs to be saved as a resource for future generations. With that in mind Cap & Trade is a BAD IDEA. It is suppose to stop carbon production that is suppose to lead to a decrease in global warming.

First, Global Warming. What global warming. Check the news. I thought that global warming was suppose to eliminate or make winters more mild. That is definitely not the case this year.
According to the US National Climatic Data Center (NCDC), the average temperature of the global land surface in January 2008 was below the 20th century mean (-0.02°F/-0.01°C) for the first time since 1982.

Temperatures were also colder than average across large swathes of central Asia, the Middle East, the western US, western Alaska and southeastern China.

The NCDC reported that the cold conditions were associated with "the largest January snow cover extent on record for the Eurasian continent and for the Northern Hemisphere".

In some parts of China and central Asia, snow fell for the first time in living memory, the NCDC noted.

"For the contiguous United States, the average temperature was 30.5°F (-0.83°C) for January, which was 0.3°F (0.2°C) below the 20th century mean and the 49th
coolest January on record, based on preliminary data".

Much of North America was also hit by the heaviest snowfall since the 1960s.
[Source: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/earthnews/3326813/Global-warming-sceptics-buoyed-by-record-cold.html]

Second, Carbon = Global Warming. Now that NASA actually has satellites in that can take readings to determine the amount of carbon in the atmosphere, they have found out that it is not a build up of carbon that is heating up the Earth. Methane and the heating of the Earths water supply does more damage. So caping carbon output is not going to effect the imaginary idea of global warming. Carbon only stops 8% of the radiation coming from the sun. 92% of it hits other items such as Methane. (BTW, the biggest producer of methane in the US is cattle, sounds like we all need to go vegetarian. Oh wait, that would mean more people eating Earths resources. I thought that was a bad thing.) Only 3% of carbon emissions around the globe is produced by humans. The other 97% of carbon dioxide is produced by respiration and vegetation decay. So basically the Cap and Trade is trying to solve the problem of global warming by trying to reduce 3% of 8% of the cause.

Third, Cap and Trade is flawed thinking. Basically, companies have to pay the government to have the right to produce carbon emissions during production. So the government says they will be able to collect billions of dollars from this program. The industries that need to buy carbon credits will not keep the cost to themselves. Remember, 95% of all US electricity is produced by COAL power plants. So 95% of the US electricity supply will be affected and will have to purchase carbon credits from the government. They will then pass the cost on to the consumer in the form a rate hikes. So because of this, the government collects money, and the consumer pays more as well. Well the politicians have thought of everything. They are then going to give the people back the money they collected to help off-set the increase in rates. So, how is this going to curb carbon production? It is not. The company still gets its money, and the consumer gets a credit from the government so it does not affect them either (but the consumer only gets the credit if they make under a specific dollar amount). So how is this going to make people want to not product CO2? And remember, if we can cut carbon emissions caused by humans we are only eliminating 3% of 8% of the global warming issue.

All I can say is this. For those who make over the magic number, watch your utilities, gas, and other items skyrocket in price. (Obama himself is quoted saying that the cost of electricity is going to skyrocket.) Cap & Trade is just another example of how the government thinks it can take money from one group of people (businesses in this case) and give it to another group of people.

My Stimulus Idea

OK, so they are worried about home owners, and the fact they can't pay their mortgage. Lets not get into the fact that a lot of them over purchased, or did really stupid lending schemes. But lets discuss another aspect of the crisis. What are the things that EVERY (on the grid, and more power to you if you are off the grid) home owner has to pay each month? Here is the list I came up with.
  1. Electricity
  2. Gas (Natural or other)
  3. Water/Sewer
  4. Phone (not a necessity)
  5. Internet (not a necessity)

Now, instead of owning their houses and lowering their payments, which in essence makes the federal government the owner of their private property, why not try to lower the other monthly bills the home owners have to pay? This will even help the elderly that currently own their house right out, giving them the money they need for medications.

I would think that this would be a good idea. But instead of doing that, the newly elected administration is going to increase these monthly bills.

Instead of making electricity cheaper, electricity is going to be more expensive because of the Cap & Trade policies that are being pushed. Listen to this video below. At about 1 minute in, you will hear Obama admit in his own words that Electricity Rates are going to skyrocket.

SIDE NOTE: Kinda makes me laugh. Today I saw one of those little electric cars. When it costs them more to charge their batteries then go gas a SUV, they will be wanting to drive the SUV again. Not only do they look like they are un-safe (tin-can on wheels), but you can't have more than two people in them, and you can't go to home depot and pick anything up. If they cost more to drive, why whould you even think about driving one?

Now on to the Gas question. We all know how he views using non-refundable natural resources. It is not a green solution. It will be interesting to see what happens to the price of heating oil and natural gas when the cap and trade hits as well. Heating oil has to be produced, and natural gas also has to be refined, and sent to our homes. Those industries will also be hit with the increase in cost to deliver them.

Sewer and Water, this is yet another energy intensive industry. Sewer has to be treated, which requires commercial operations. Those are also going to be hit with the cap and trade policies. It will cost them more to clean the crap out of the water so we can drink it (I think my use of words here is funny). We will also see an increase in water and sewer rates.

The only solution I see is to move yourself off the grid. By that I mean, find a source of water, use a septic tank, harness wind or solar power, and start burning more wood to heat our houses. Aimee and I are in the process of trying to do that. In the next few years (probably to late) we want to be living on a self sustaining farm. Where we can be bitter at the government and cling to our guns and religion. To those of you who have already made this move, I am jealous. Congrats.....

Lisfranc fracture - Post Surgery

These pictures were taken 5 days after the surgery. There are three incisions. Two on the top of the foot and one on the inside of the foot. I am now able to walk with little pain with the help of this HUGE boot I am now wearing. Will be going back to the doctor next Monday to have the stitches taken out.

I am no longer on the GOOD pain medication, I am doing Tylenol and ibuprofen on a regular basis for pain. I do pretty good during the day, but after using it all day, I look forward to being able to elevate it after work at home.

All in all, things are going good. It will nice to not have to wear some type of brace or appliance, it gets really old after 10 weeks of it.

During the three days of recovery, I watched a lot of movies, and finished one of the Ender books. I will be putting my reviews up shortly.
